I am...

I am 15 years old and studying the IB (the International Baccalaureate) at school in Geneva.  I have lived here now for 7 years and am originally from London.

As part of the IB I needed to create a Personal Project and one area that has always amazed me is how Geneva is not widely visited for pleasure and isn't seen as a place to visit for a quick city break so it was obvious to me that I could try and change this and persuade people to come.

I've noticed that all adverts, maps and websites that tell you about Geneva are all the same: they tell you to visit the clock made of plants down by the lake and to visit the jet d'eau (a 140m high fountain that you can walk under, well beside - if you were underneath the power that shoots all the water up in the air would blast you to bits!). Yes, these places are nice to go and see and you should go to see them. However, when thats ALL you see on the tourist info you would be forgiven for thinking Geneva is this small, busy, cold city that has nothing that you can do apart from make money, buy a watch and eat cheese.

Whenever I talk to people back home they don't know much about Geneva city itself, people come to Geneva airport and transfer straight out to the mountains for their snow sport or summer walking/climbing holidays.  Plus, when I went to the Tourist Information office here, I asked what the most requested question - guess what - was 'I have 2 hours to spare, what can I do?' !!!  I want to show you all that Geneva is a beautiful and interesting city and well worth visiting for a city break.

So this is where I come in. I've made this website so that you tourists can get fresh and interesting information on the wonderful city of Geneva - It really is small and busy (but surprizingly it is incredibly quiet no matter how many people are there and its not too busy that its hard to move around), and yes, its cold in the winter but it is perfectly hot during the summer and just the right temperature during spring and autumn (sunny with a bit of wind :D) and there definitetly are a lot of interesting things to do and to see! - so hopefully you will be persuaded to come over and visit for a while!
