Going anywhere...?

Geneva is small and getting places is easy without a car. However if you would like to have one there are all the usual car rentals conveniently in the airport.

For those who don't mind getting public transport there is the TPG buses and trams.

Here is the website that will tell you where the bike rentals are, it even lets you reserve it online! Fortunately this one is in English and French. Its free rental during the summer (April till October :D).

Here is the website that will tell you the times and places for the public transport (buses and trams). Unfortunately its in french - their english website is coming soon but I'm sure you'll be able to get around it :). Trams my favorite form of transport when going out with friends, they are generally really clean and safe.  However its worth noting that unfortunately transport here is not the best for you if you rely on a wheelchair, but on the bright side they are getting better. The signs at each bus stop, with the timings of when the next bus/tram arrives, should show a wheelchair icon to show whether that bus/tram is efficient for your wheelchair, however sometimes this can make you wait for half an hour to an hour. So I'm really sorry but it will take more time/planning if you are a wheelchair user.

Here is the website for Europcar car rental, there is one by the airport which will be more convienient for you (the airport is right next to the train station, so thats a plus).  There are lots more companies based at the airport.

Here is the website for the tourist office in Geneva, you might not need it. But you never know! This website also shows you where to rent a boat to take out onto lac lemain HERE is the link to that part of the website.

If you're into cycling there are bike rentals for you - and its FREE from mid-April to mid-October.

Geneva doesn't have taxis that you can just hail as they drive past, no that obviously would be too much work ;). So you find the nearest taxi rank (at the airport of course and lots dotted all around town) or you have to call for one.

Yeah sure you are probably used to waving to an available taxi on the road driving by but its not the same in Geneva, you have to find the nearest taxi rank (never that far away you just need to know where to go) or call for one in advance. Of course if you are at the airport there is a rank outside and they'll take you anywhere. You could be used to calling for one, but it does get some getting used to if not. So these are the websites, and numbers (yes, its complicated, and yes there are more than one):

Phone for a TaxiPhone: 0041 22 33 141 33

Phone for an Ambassador Taxi: 0041 22 731 4141

Phone for Taxi 202: 0041 22 3 202 202

There aren't any differences really - they are all just different companies, just see who you would like to use best and call them. There are tarifs (obviously) and you can find them here.
